Hello Future Assumption AP Families!
Welcome to Assumption’s Virtual Advanced Placement Information Evening. The aim of our evening is to give you a comprehensive overview of Assumption’s Advanced Placement Program. This event will take place in two parts.
Part I is a playlist where you will find information on the program itself, including the application process and timeline, the benefits of the program, information on the general student profile, subject specific information, answers to the questions that have been asked through our pre-registration process, and testimonials from a few current and former students to name just a few videos. This playlist also includes items from our virtual grade 8 information night play list, because Assumption is a wonderful school filled with opportunity. We invite you to explore this playlist, with your child(ren) at your leisure, to see all that Assumption, and the Advanced Placement Program has to offer.
Part II is a LIVE question and answer session broadcast tonight @7:00 pm on our Assumption YouTube Channel and a round table discussion with our subject department heads.
Assumption is an incredible school filled with wonderful and caring students and staff. I am proud to work with such committed individuals to help shape the future leaders of tomorrow. Assumption is a place full of many opportunities for our students from sports, to arts, to clubs including Investment Club, Model UN and School Reach etc.… There is something in this building for all of our students!
Thank you so much for joining us for this information session, we are thrilled to welcome you and your family into our Assumption community!

Advanced Placement Application
Application is due by Friday, December 10th. In order to apply you must be logged in with a gmail email account.
What is Advanced Placement?
Advanced Placement (AP) courses offer university-level content to students in secondary school. Students in AP and pre-AP programmes study topics in greater depth, providing an opportunity for enhanced learning.
The rich course material, classroom discussion and unique assignments typical of AP courses help to develop the knowledge and the critical thinking skills in students that are university bound.
AP is recognized by post-secondary institutions in more than 30 countries worldwide, including 90% of north American colleges and universities.
What is Pre-Advanced Placement?
Pre-AP is an advanced series of courses for students to help begin preparing for university and is designated to be a rigorous preparation for AP courses in Grade 12.
The courses are intended to be challenging, but the benefits to students are well worth the extra work.
