Lenten Homeroom Challenge!

Assumption students are being asked to think about all the ways they can develop a more generous disposition this Lent with our annual 40 Acts of Generosity Campaign! This year, we are also adding a fundraising drive to help us purchase packages of new underwear for the guests of the Good Shepherd Venture Centre in Hamilton, ON. The homeroom that raises the most money will receive a prize! All donations are to be made via School Cash Online.

Good Shepherd Hamilton operates a variety of ministries to some of the most vulnerable members of the community, regardless of race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, or addiction issues. They strive to offer services in ways that affirm the human dignity of each person they encounter. The Venture Centre offers emergency food, clothing, toiletries, and household items, and relies heavily on individual and corporate donations. The one clothing item they cannot accept second-hand is underwear, and as a result, their supply cannot meet their demand.

Lent is a time when we are asked to fast from things that distract us from living out our Christian calling, or get in the way of us working on becoming who God is calling us to be. If our fasting saves us money, we are encouraged to spend that money charitably to help others who are in need! So let us consider the many ways we might become more generous and charitable people this Lent, and donate to our Underwear Drive for Good Shepherd if you are able!
