Catholic Education Week 2020 “Igniting Hope”

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”  (Romans 15:13)

Could a more appropriate theme have been selected for this year’s Catholic Education Week? This theme was chosen months ago, when no one imagined that CEW2020 would be taking place in the midst of a global pandemic, a time of isolation, quarantine, physical distancing, distance learning, social and economic hardship. Yet we could not have asked for a more perfect theme, for it is in precisely such times of challenge and despair that we are called to be people of hope.

It is still the season of Easter, spring has arrived, and so many people have been responding to the pandemic by reaching out to others, organizing community supports, and engaging in selfless and generous acts of service – there are so many signs of hope all around us!

Please spend a few moments this week looking for and sharing signs of hope with your family, your friends, and online (use the hashtags #CEW2020 and #IgnitingHope). Check back here each day this week for some prayerful reflection on Hope!
