Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (CPIC) to Host Parent & Child Emotional Well-being Speaker Series

The Catholic Parent Involvement Committee (CPIC) at HCDSB is pleased to be hosting a speaker series with Sara Westbrook from March through June!

CPIC is a group of parents, trustees and Board staff who actively support parent engagement and involvement throughout the Halton Catholic District School Board. 

CPIC provides an opportunity for Catholic School Council members to network, offer input and facilitate informative presentations on a number of education related topics throughout the school year.

For the health and safety of our HCDSB community, all sessions will be offered virtually.


You & Your Child’s Well-being Matters: Speaker Series

First session: Tuesday, March 29th, 2022 from 7:00 – 8:15 PM

A child’s emotional state affects their performance at school, their relationships and their physical and mental well-being. Emotions can be hard to identify, to move through and hardest of all to talk about.

In this virtual presentation, parents and guardians will learn 3 strategies to develop resilience and emotional well-being in children.

These strategies will help your child:

  • Self-regulate
  • Decrease anxiety and stress
  • Have a closer relationship with others
  • Communicate with empathy, respect and kindness
  • Create healthier mental and physical well-being

Parents will receive an invite to the session, which will take place on Microsoft Teams, closer to the presentation date.


Second session: Wednesday, May 4th 2022 from 6:30 – 7:30 PM

In this 60 minute fun, interactive presentation, Sara Westbrook shares strategies to help families ‘bounce back’ from challenging circumstances and the tough emotions they trigger by strengthening:

  • Emotional and mental well-being
  • Confidence
  • Respect for self and others

Third session: Thursday, June 2nd, 2022 from 7:00 – 8:15 PM

Parents are expected to give 100% no matter what is happening in their life, job or the world. Your emotions matter!

In this interactive virtual presentation, Sara supports parents’ well-being by sharing strategies to strengthen their emotional awareness, emotional management and emotional resilience.
