We’re Celebrating 50 Years of Catholic Education at HCDSB!

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Halton Catholic District School Board, and we are celebrating!

Our school district was born in 1969, when the Burlington, Georgetown, Milton and Oakville school boards came together to form the Halton County Roman Catholic Separate School Board.

At the time of amalgamation, we had a total population of 6000 students enrolled in Kindergarten through Grade 8, across 16 elementary schools.

By our 25th Anniversary in 1994, there were nearly 20,000 students enrolled in Kindergarten through OAC (Grade 13) across 26 elementary schools and 5 secondary schools.

In 2019, as we celebrate our 50th Anniversary, HCDSB now serves more than 36,000 students across 45 elementary schools, 9 secondary schools and 3 continuing education sites!

It has been an extraordinary journey so far, and now it’s time to celebrate!

Celebrating Our Milestone

We have planned a number of special events and activities to commemorate this significant milestone in the history of HCDSB, and we want all members of our HCDSB community to join the celebrations!

Stay in Touch

Over the coming months, we will be sharing details of our upcoming events and activities online. Updates will be posted on our Board and school websites, as well as social media – so stay tuned! All members of our HCDSB community are invited to view highlights, share photos and tweet out the good news using the hashtag: #HCDSB50.

It’s time to look back upon the journey we’ve shared so far, celebrate all that we’ve accomplished together, and look forward to what lies ahead for HCDSB!
