Learning About Lunar New Year!

Tomorrow (Friday, February 12th, 2021), marks the beginning of Lunar New Year!

Also known as the “Spring Festival”, Lunar New Year runs for approximately 16 days and, this year, celebrations will be on-going from February 12th until February 26th.

You might be wondering why Lunar New Year is at a different time than the New Year that is widely celebrated on January 31st. Well, that is because Lunar New Year begins with the start of the first new moon of the year. The date of Lunar New Year changes from year to year, but it always falls between January 21st and February 20th.

Thank you to Emma Jia, Cathy Mao, John Chu and Bonnie Xue for teaching the rest of Corpus about this very important celebration!
