Chaplain’s Corner – Prayer for Monday May11

5th Week of Easter

“Very truly, I tell you, the one who believes in me will also do the works that I do and, in fact, will do greater works than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14.12

It might seem presumptuous to think we could do what Jesus did. To suggest we can do even more is startling!  Yet, those were Jesus’ instructions to those who believe in him. We worship Jesus by doing as he did. Our mission is to live, act and love as Jesus did: To heal broken hearts with kindness, to heal sick bodies with the miracle of medicine; to carry the good news of God’s love far and wide; to be God’s love made present by forgiving those who hurt us; by making God’s compassion felt by feeding the hungry and giving shelter to the homeless.

Jesus thank you for the many ways your works continue in our world:

For the organizations that support families who have lost jobs,

For our mental health workers who lift up those who have lost heart,

For our frontline workers who provide us with food

and for our medical workers who tend our sick.

Your Spirit is always breathing new life into our wounded world.

Guide us to fulfill your call to be workers in your Kingdom.
