Say to those who are of a fearful heart, “Be strong, do not fear! Here is your God.” (Isaiah 35.4)
The prophet Isaiah was called by God to speak to his people at a time of discouragement ad doubt. Scripture speaks equally to us today. We live in a time when fear seems to be easily stirred into panic, division or despair. Against this trend, God calls us to trust and to love.
To those moments when life seems bleak, faith says the sun will return.
To those moments of unbearable distress, trust says this too will pass.
To those times when we are overwhelmed, wisdom says take some time for rest.
We pray for the gift of perspective, of being able to see the big picture;
to see beyond momentary struggles to the joy and satisfaction of a life well-lived.
