Loyola Students Set Up Hurricane Dorian Relief Initiative

Grade 9 students from St. Ignatius of Loyola Catholic Secondary School are doing their part to support those affected by Hurricane Dorian.

Hurricane Dorian was the most powerful storm to ever hit the Bahamas, leaving 13,000 homes and hundreds of communities destroyed.

Students in Ms. March’s Grade 9 Cosmetology class took it upon themselves to begin a Dorian Disaster Relief initiative by making a variety of bracelets to sell to students, staff, and members of the community. Students named this amazing initiative Beads 4 Bahamas.

All proceeds from Beads 4 Bahamas will be going toward Samaritan’s Purse, a Canadian non-profit organization providing medical care and supplies for the communities affected by Hurricane Dorian.

The bracelets are being sold for $2 each until the end of October. Students will be travelling classroom to classroom, and will be selling the bracelets in the school’s atrium over lunch hour.
