Today is “International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women”

Hey Hawks. Did you know that nearly 1 in 3 women have been abused at some point in their lifetime, and these numbers have only increased with the covid-19 pandemic. Now we see that 2 in 3 women have reported they or a women they know have experienced some form of violence and only 1 in 10 women actually go to the police for help. Evidently, this is a major issue in our world today, and by being aware of the cause, we can help work towards finding the root causes for them, and ultimately make a change. While that sounds like a bit of a stretch, the easiest thing that we as a school community can do is educate ourselves on this issue, and become more aware of what is sadly a prominent issue in our society.

If you or someone you know is being abused, please reach out for help. See Chaplain Wayne, Ms. Lorentz our CYC or Mrs. Starling our Social Worker. You can also reach out to any adult in the building for support. You are not alone. https://www.un.org/en/observances/ending-violence-against-women-day
