In order to be considered for the honour of Valedictorian of the Class of 2022, all applicants MUST meet the following Valedictorian Nomination Criteria:
Students running for Valedictorian must:
- Consistently promote and demonstrate our Catholic School’s mission by living out the Gospel values, exemplifying the ideals of dignity, equity and respect
- Demonstrate leadership, school spirit and/or involvement in the life of the school
- Consistently put forth a solid academic effort in their chosen pathway
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Part 1: If you meet the above criteria and choose to apply for Valedictorian, you MUST submit the following WITHIN the posted TIMELINES below:
- A WRITTEN SUBMISSION that is a SAMPLE of your proposed Valedictory speech
- The paragraph must be between 250 – 500 words in length
- The paragraph must reflect the Valedictorian Nomination Criteria
- The paragraph must contain proper grammar, style, and appropriate language, in keeping with the tone of a valedictory speech
- The ENDORSEMENT of your candidacy by THREE Loyola staff members
- These staff members must be willing to act as references
- Ensure that you contact these references prior to submitting their names as part of the application process
Applications OPEN: Monday April 11th, 2022
Applications CLOSED (Submissions no longer accepted): Sunday April 24th at 11:50 PM
- Apply through the Google Form, “Valedictorian Application Class of 2022”
- Link will be available in the Content section of the Student Services D2L page, in the sub-folder GR 12 Graduation Information, as well as published in the Activity Feed (link will also be posted on the school website, and school social media sites)

Part 2: If part 1 of the application process is successful, you will MEET with the faculty graduation committee to share WHY you should be selected to represent the Class of 2022 as its Valedictorian
- During this meeting, you will also present your sample of your proposed Valedictory speech to the faculty committee
- The meetings will take place during the week of April 25th to 29th
Part 3: If part 2 of the application process is also successful, you will PRESENT WHY you should be chosen to represent the Class of 2022 to your graduating peers
- This will take place on Monday May 11th
- Candidates for graduation will then cast their votes between Monday May 11th and Wednesday May 13th
- The Valedictorian will be announced by Friday May 15th

Being selected as the Valedictorian of the Class of 2022, acting as the Salutatorian of the Class of 2022, presenting the Scripture Reading as well as presenting the Loyola School Crest Commentary, are all each an honour and a privilege. As such, school and board administration reserve the right to rescind the appointment of any candidate at any time.
