National Indigenous History Month

Throughout the month of June, to celebrate National Indigenous History month, we will be playing songs coded by Ms. Lanois’ Indigenous Studies class and Mrs. Alfano’s Gr 12 computer science class that promote one of the 94 Calls to Action outlined by the TRC.

Today we are featuring a song coded by Farah Saber

She writes “My song mainly represents how Indigenous peoples have been continuously fighting against discrimination from the Canadian government. When the song gets chaotic, it represents how hectic it has been for Indigenous peoples, with different sounds representing different sides of their struggles. Then the flutes at the end of the song show that all Indigenous communities strive for the end of the day is harmony and peace.”
