National Indigenous History Month

Throughout the month of June, to celebrate National Indigenous History month, we will be playing songs coded by Ms. Lanois’ Indigenous Studies class and Mrs. Alfano’s Gr 12 computer science class that promote one of the 94 Calls to Action outlined by the TRC.

Today we are featuring a song coded by Andrew Chai.

He writes “My song promotes the Call to Action about the Indigenous culture. As human beings, Indigenous people have the right to be respected and free. Nothing should prevent them from following their own tradition, and they shouldn’t be forced to do something that they do not wish to do.”

Movie Night In Your Learning Commons (aka the library)

“Mr. Hodges was unsuccessful in growing potatoes in your Learning Commons; however, he was able to obtain potato chips for the airing of The Martian movie this Thursday after school at 2:40. Potato chips will be rationed accordingly during the movie.”

Grad BBQ

Attention graduating grade 12s. This is a reminder that your grad barbeque is tomorrow during periods 3 and 4. As we will be outside, you are encouraged to bring sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses and a water bottle. And no need to bring your lunch that day as it is provided.

And for those attending prom, if you haven’t submitted your table group on the Google Form, today is your last day to do so. You can find the link to the Google Form on the Student Services D2L site, under Content and then under Grade 12 Grad Info.

A Message From Your Learning Commons (aka the library)

“A lot of books have the word return in their titles. For example, Brian’s Return by Gary Paulsen, and The Return: Nightfall by Lisa Smith.”

“Speaking of the word return, it’s that time of year again to return overdue library items. All books and computers that are signed out need to be returned by June 17th. Thank you.”

Ultimate Team

This is a reminder to all Ultimate Team members to return your jersey to room 173 by the end of the week.
