Congratulation to Youssef Gendy who won the Queens Young Entrepreneurs’ Competition after delivering a presentation at the QLEAD (Queen’s Leadership, Excellence, and Development) conference, hosted at the Smith School of Business at Queens University!
Youssef is a young entrepreneur, currently building an Education Technology tool (named TagTeach) designed to help teachers and students communicate and act on feedback and simplify curriculum expectations.
In the face of increasing class sizes and budget cuts ($851 million in budget cuts, 5,500 affected Ontario high school teaching jobs, and provincially increasing class sizes from 22 to 28 students in the next 3-4 years), TagTeach attempts to further the foundational principle of equitable education in classrooms across Canada. TagTeach will hopefully impact high schools even after he graduates and leaves for university.
After placing as one of three finalists across Canada (submitting a business plan and explanatory video), gaining automatic acceptance into the QLEAD conference, preparing the presentation and speaking in front of the 150 delegates and panel of judges, Youssef was unanimously elected the winner by the judges. What an awesome accomplishment and experience!
