Library Resources & Services

Although our physical spaces are closed at the present time, Oakville Public Library offers a number of educational materials, programs and services to help support learning at home. Here is a quick overview of what is available for high school students. All online resources can be accessed with an Oakville Public Library card.

How to Register for a Library Card

If you live, work or attend school in Oakville and don’t have an OPL library card, you can now register for one through email or telephone.

Select one option:

 Send us an email at oplreference@oakville.ca with your request; or

 Call us at 905-815-2039 and leave a voicemail, include your name and phone number.

Please allow 48 hours to process your registration. Currently, this library card will provide you with access to OPL’s digital collections which includes eBooks, audiobooks, online resources, and more. Once the library resumes regular operations, we can provide you with a full-access library card.

How-To Video: Homework Help – this YouTube video offers a brief introduction to digital resources and research skills. Learn what OPL has to offer, along with the fundamentals of selecting and evaluating information sources.

Online Resources
All of our online resources can be accessed using your Oakville Public Library card and PIN number.

Hoopla allows you to instantly stream or download movies, television shows, audiobooks and music.

cloudLibrary offers a growing collection of eBooks and audiobooks for adults, teens, and kids from cloudLibrary for listening or reading on your computer, smartphone, or tablet. Read and listen through the mobile or desktop app.

Lynda.com is an online learning platform featuring thousands of online courses taught by industry experts. Courses include 3D printing, business, photography, coding, Microsoft Excel and many more.

Mango Languages is an individualized language learning service designed to teach practical conversation. Each lesson covers vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and culture. Mango can also be used to learn English as a second language. Download the Mango Languages Library
