Youth from high schools across Halton have come together to plan the YMCA Youth Peace Forum.
The Youth Peace Forum is an event for Youth led by Youth! It’s an opportunity for young people in our community to learn from each other and engage with their peers on topics related to our 2020 Peace Week theme of “Resilience of the Human Spirit”. This FREE virtual event will include prizes, interactive games, a panel discussion where they have the opportunity to talk to local community leaders and then youth-led discussion groups on topics related to systemic racism, truth & reconciliation, mental health and living through the Covid-19 pandemic. This is an exciting chance for young people to really dig into these big topics and be inspired to create change in our community. It takes place this Saturday November 21st, from 5:30-8:00pm.
Mathew Barker, a U of T student and a member of the Oakville Optimist Club. His passion for public service stems from his belief in the productive capacity in people.
