Grade 9

Information for students going into Grade 10:

  • No spares allowed in Grade 10
  • You must choose Religion, Math, English, Science, History, Civics/Careers and 2 electives
  • No changes will be made to electives. Courses are scheduled based on the choices you make now. Check out course descriptors on myBlueprint, or speak to the teachers of the course. Guidance can help direct you to the appropriate person.
  • You are encouraged to complete Community Service hours. Make sure the activity meets the eligibility standards (stated on the back of the form).

Grade 10

Information for students going into Grade 11:

  • No spares allowed in Grade 11
  • You will now be choosing University (U), College (C), Mixed (M), Open (O) or Workplace (E) level courses, rather than Academic (D), Applied (P), Open (O) and Locally Developed (L).
  • You must choose Religion, Math, English and 5 electives, determined by your pathway
  • For Math, English, Science (and some electives) you must have the pre-requisite; ie. MPM2D to take MCR3U. myBlueprint will indicate if you do/do not have the prerequisite.
  • For the first time, you will be choosing levels in Religion (HRF3O) – open level Religion, or HRT3M, college/university level. There will be no level changes, so choose carefully.
  • Most Grade 12 courses require a Grade 11 pre-requisite, so you have to work backwards – what course is required in Grade 11 so that I can take “X” course in Grade 12? For example, you can’t take AVI4M without AVI3M. Again, myBlueprint can help you here.
  • If you are thinking of taking co-op, you are encouraged to speak with one of the co-op teachers now to enquire about the possibility of a placement in your area of interest. Dropping co-op, especially at the start of second semester, can be problematic. It can be difficult finding space in two courses that are of interest and available to you.
  • You are encouraged to investigate post-secondary options/programs and the pre-requisites needed for entrance into those programs at different colleges/universities. Use myBlueprintwww.ontariocolleges.ca and www.ontariouniversitiesinfo.ca
  • You should have completed or be near completion of the 40 hour Community Service hours requirement for graduation. Make sure the activity meets the eligibility standards on the back of the form.

Grade 11

Information for students going into Grade 12:

  • You must choose Religion and English, and the number of electives needed to make up the 30 required for graduation; i.e., If you have passed all courses to date, you can take a spare each semester.
  • You MUST have a minimum of 3 courses each semester on your timetable.
  • Make sure you have the prerequisites. myBlueprint will indicate if you can/cannot take the course based on prerequisites.
  • You must have 6 M or U level courses to apply to university.
  • HRE4M and HSE4M can be used as one of the 6; however, you can choose to take HRE4O. There will be no level changes– so choose carefully.
  • Co-op is “O” level and will not be used as part of a university admission average.
  • You need to be investigating post-secondary options/programs and what the course requirements are for eligibility into programs at different colleges/universities. Use myBlueprintwww.ontariocolleges.ca and www.ontariouniversitiesinfo.ca/.  You are encouraged to visit the University Fair in September, the College Fair in October, and Open Houses at the universities and colleges. More details to come in the Fall.
  • Submit your required 40 Community Service hours ASAP.
