Math Contest Results

Yesterday, 109 students participated our second Caribou Cup Math Contest.  We would like to congratulate all participants for a job well done. 

For our grade 9 and 10s, in third place we have Selena Ye, and tied for 1st place is Jocelyn Shi and Iris Jiang. Our 1st place winners also placed in the top 9% of the World participants.  

For our grade 11 and 12s, a special shout out to our top three participants. In third place we have a tie between Liam Toews and Justin Badua. In second place is Johnathan Lavoie, and our first place winner is Kaitlyn Ellis. Kaitlyn also placed in the top 9% of the world participants and 26th in all of Canada. 

As a team, our Loyola team is ranked 2nd overall in the province for our junior team in the Caribou cup and 1st overall for our senior team. A huge congratulations to all.  The next contest is scheduled for January.  

School Play

Just a reminder that auditions for our school play are after school today, Nov. 17. If you haven’t picked up your permission forms yet, stage crew and performers forms are outside the drama room door. Please have them signed and bring them to tomorrow’s audition.

Paid Non-Uniform Day Tuesday, Nov. 21

We will be having a paid non-uniform Blue day on Tuesday, November 21st in support of anti-bullying Awareness and the proceeds will go to the Loyola Cares Angel Campaign. If you have not already done so, students are encouraged to pay a one-time fee of $20 on school cash online for 10 non uniform days this school year. Students will be given a wristband n your period 1 class Tuesday that must be worn on the on-uniform day. Teachers are asked to pick up the wristbands from their mailboxes.

Gr. 9 & 11 Open Gym

Attention all grade 9 and 11 students, starting next Tuesday, we are excited to announce that we have open gym sessions during your 3A lunch just for you. Whether you are into sports or want to try out new activities, this is your chance to have some fun and stay active. Join us in the gym, and bring your friends. See you there!

Peer Tutors Needed

Att. Gr. 11 & 12 students looking for volunteer hours. We are still in need of Peer Tutors! Please drop off your application to Ms. Orlando in Student Services.

Bantam Boys Basketball

There is a change to the bantam boys basketball tryout dates – tryouts will begin next week. The first tryout will be Tuesday November 21st after school in the gym. If you haven’t already, please go by room 131 to grab a permission form from Mr. Di Nardo.

Student Life Expo

Students interested in attending the Student Life Expo in Toronto on Nov. 18th tickets are available in Student Services.

Just a reminder rationales for the Queen’s Chancellor’s Scholarship are due to Mrs Luis next Thursday November 23rd by 8:30am.

Seniors Winter Dance

Student Council would like to invite all Seniors (gr. 11 & 12) to the Senior Winter Dance on Thursday, November 23rd in the school cafeteria. Tickets are $12 and can be purchased on school cash online. Photo ID must be shown at the door.
