Gr 9 Courses – Destreaming Information from the Ministry of Education

French Programs at Loyola

Loyola offers a French Immersion program for students continuing from the HCDSB elementary pathway. It provides a supportive environment to strengthen French language skills and explore bilingual learning opportunities throughout high school.

French as a Second Language – Halton Catholic District School Board (hcdsb.org)

Students in Loyola’s Family of Schools Registration Process:

This process is for students that are currently attending a school within Loyola’s Family of Schools:

• Students will be transferred by their elementary school and students will select courses via myBlueprint. Students must go through D2L to access their myblueprint accounts.
• Student activity fee of $65 School Cash Online. This will appear on school cash online in the summer leading into the student’s Grade 9 year.

The presentation below is the presentation that was shared with Gr 8 students in our associate schools. Please note, students that are currently attending school outside of HCDSB are to follow the registration instructions outlined for Non-HCDSB Students.

Non-HCDSB Students Registration Process:

This process is for students that are currently not in a HCDSB school (public school or private school):

• Online Registration via HCDSB Website: here This will open in November for the 2026-27 school year.
• Students that are out of Loyola’s boundary will need to complete a Cross Boundary Application and submit it to the board. Once approved they may complete the online registration form.
• Students that are applying to the STEAM program and are not in Loyola’s boundary do not need to complete a cross-boundary form, but must complete the STEAM Application Form in addition to the HCDSB online registration form.
• Loyola will contact you directly when the online registration is complete – a complete application includes uploading all required documentation. When the online registration is complete the secretary will provide the parent and student with the course selection guide.
• Student activity fee of $65 School Cash Online. This will appear on school cash online in the summer leading into the student’s Grade 9 year.

HCDSB Students Not in Loyola’s Family of Schools Registration Process for Specialty Programs:

This process is for students that are currently attending a HCDSB school that is not within Loyola’s Family of Schools and are applying for the STEAM program:

• Students will select courses through their HCDSB myblueprint account.
• Complete and submit the on-line STEAM application.
• When a student has been accepted into the STEAM program they will need to contact their HCDSB elementary secretary to have them change the Next School Indicator (mid February).
• Student activity fee of $65 School Cash Online. This will appear on school cash online in the summer leading into the student’s Grade 9 year.

STEAM Program and Application Information:

At this time the STEAM Application for the 2026-27 school year will open in November. Students will be informed if they have been accepted into the program in mid February. 

STEAM is a holistic approach to learning that interconnects multiple subject areas: Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics. In the 2026/27 school year, Loyola is offering a STEAM Interdisciplinary Program for grade 9 students and Gr 10 students.

Grade 8 students looking to enter the program will be asked a short series of questions. These questions will be connected to each students’ Individual Pathways Plan to ensure the Loyola STEAM program is the most effective programming option available to them.

Hawkeye Grade 9 Mentorship Program

All Grade 9 students are linked up with a Loyola Mentor to help with the transition into secondary school. Grade 11 students involved in the Hawkeye Program will help Grade 9s to get involved at Loyola, to be there to answer school-related questions, and to encourage these new students to make the most of their high school experience.
