Student Council
Hey Hawks! Are you interested in joining Loyola’s Student Council? Now is the time with elections coming up soon! There are many roles available as grade representatives, vice-presidents and president. Student council is a fun opportunity to directly be involved with our school’s best events like dances, multicultural day, spirit week, candy grams, coffeehouse, Halloween haunted house and much more! Please see the poster on the screen for more information, or on Student Council’s instagram page @loyolalsc. All applications are due by Monday, June 10th and can be sent to the emails shown on screen. We’re excited to work with you all!
Indigenous History Month
Happy Indigenous History Month! Have you heard of the Iroquois Confederacy?! Centuries ago, the five Iroquois (or Haudenosaunee) Nations bound themselves together in peace and unity, while maintaining their separate individual powers, creating the Iroquois Confederacy – a central, representative government formed in accordance with moral principles. The origins of this Confederacy are explained in the legend of the Tree of Great Peace – a story which has been passed down for hundreds of years by the Iroquois people. Still to this day the Iroquois Confederacy is a respected model for political organization; even the authors of the American constitution studied it and consulted with the Iroquois elders when Americans were framing their national laws!
SJOA Volunteering for Family Fun Knight
This is a reminder to all students who volunteered to help with the St. Joan of Arc Family Fun Knight taking place today to please check your email for details on when to be there and where to go.
Graduation Ceremony Tickets
Attention grade 12s. We do have some extra tickets for the graduation ceremony on June 25th remaining. You may request up to 2 extra tickets. These requests should be for immediate family or family who have had a significant role in your life. Requests can be made to Mrs. Smith by email or in person in room 211. Requests are on a first come, first serve basis until we run out of tickets, and will close this Friday.
Dance Team
Just a reminder, Dance Captain auditions will be held this Friday after school in the small gym. Please pick up permission forms from Ms. Ventresca in Workroom 287 and prepare a short choreographed routine.
Student Services
ATTENTION GRADE 11 STUDENTS GOING INTO GRADE 12 NEXT YEAR!!!!! If you selected 8 courses for your Gr 12 year and you intend to drop a course for a SPARE, please contact your guidance counsellor as soon as possible. We are NOT able to make course changes at this time. Many classes are at capacity and changes are not possible unless students drop for spares. If you want to take a course online, please contact your guidance counsellor as soon as possible. Online options are quickly filling up for next year. Also applications for the Miller Family Foundation Bursary are due Monday, June 10th!
