Black History Month

Hey Hawks! Today is the start of the second week of Black History Month! This week we hope to highlight the theme of Embracing Black Culture. Some resources to investigate is an article called “Black Light: A Celebration of Canadian Filmmakers”, where you can learn about documentaries by leading black Canadian voices like Sylvia D. Hamilton & Claire Prieto in BLACK MOTHER BLACK DAUGHTER. Or check out the YouTube video called “My Teenage Life Being Black in Canada.” Finally, I will always recommend one of my personal favourites, the move Hidden Figures, which deals with intersectionality concerning race and gender. We hope this week you learn more about welcoming Black Culture.
