Today is Textile Tuesday!
Did you know the average person throws away 38kg of textiles each year and 95% of those clothes could be reused or recycled. Textile Tuesday raises awareness on the environmental consequences of clothing textiles consumption.
Some facts: Each year, people consume more than 80 billion pieces of new clothing making the clothing industry one of the worlds biggest polluters. It takes 2600 litres of water to make one new t-shirt. On average we only wear 50% of our clothes, the rest sits in our closets.
Math Tutoring Opportunity
Attention Grade 11s. Are you interested in getting some volunteer hours that will contribute towards graduation? Are you REALLY GOOD at math and/or science? If so WE NEED YOU! If you are interested in becoming a peer tutor for math or science, please contact Mrs. Sotiropoulos in Student Services or fill out an application on D2L under the Student Services page. The commitment is 1-2 times a week and the hours go towards your community service for graduation.
Take Our Kids To Work Day-Nov. 2nd
Attention Gr. 9 students: Wednesday, November 2nd i8s Take our kids to work day! all Grade 9s are encouraged to take part on this day. You may shadow a parent, a relative or a family friend n their place of work. Permission forms were handed out in Period 1, are available in Student Services and were also sent home in an email to parents. Permission forms are due on Monday Oct. 24th.
Submit your forms to your period 1 teacher and get ready for a day in the real world!

The College fair is taking place next week on October 19th and 20th at Enercare Centre.
For those looking for community service hours, the Canadian Cancer Society is hosting a virtual volunteer fair on Thursday, Oct. 20th at 7:00pm. More information can be found in Student Services or through their D2L.
Competitive Trivia Team
Loyola is running a competitive Trivia Team this year! Our next meeting will be on Wednesday Oct.19th after school in the library. No experience necessary. All are welcome. Hope to see you there!

Attention Hawks! It’s that time of year again…the swim team will be starting up soon. If you are interested in joining the swim team this year, please attend a brief information meeting on Thursday, Oct. 20th, right after school in room 284. Girls Varsity Hockey
The girls varsity hockey team will hold their first tryout today, Tuesday Oct. 18th at Glen Abbey Arena from 3-5pm. Please have all permission forms in before you skate.
