Loyola Art Show

Our Loyola Art show, celebrating Aesthetic and Achievement, is now on and open to classes throughout the day, today, and on Thursday and Friday of this week. (It will not be open to our students on Wednesday because of our STEAM day.) Teachers, please bring your classes down at your convenience and supervise your students.

There will also be an evening viewing of the art show this Thursday, for students, parents, and the community. If you took art last semester of last year, or first semester of this year you are encouraged to come out to the show.

All artwork will be returned on period 1 on Monday.

Gr. 9 Retreat Postponed

Attention all grade 9s going on Thursday’s retreat (April 27) it has had to be postponed to a later date, to be determined.

Tennis Team Tryouts

Tennis anyone? Tryouts start today at 2:45 on the courts. Watch the weather, Teams and listen for announcements for any change.

Toronto Blue Jays Ticket Raffle

We are selling raffle tickets for our Toronto Blue Jays Fundraiser in support of the WAB Youth Program in Thunder Bay. Prize includes 4 Premium Tickets & Attend Batting Practice. You will have several days to choose from. Check out our website for more information and how to buy tickets. Tickets are $10 each or 3 for $25 and will be available for purchase until midnight on April 30th. The winner will be announced on May 1st!

Valedictorian Applications

Attention graduating students. This is a reminder that Valedictorian applications are due one week today. The application is posted on the student services D2L site.

Spring Coffee House

Our Spring Coffee House is back! Student council’s Spring Coffee House will be held on Thursday May, 11th! We are looking to showcase talents such as singing, musical instrumentals, musical bands, and dancers. We are also hoping to showcase some of our student’s beautiful art in the atrium!

If you have a special talent you want to share, email Mrs. Stewart and your Student council president Tabitha Stephenson on what you would like to perform ASAP and then send them your audition video clip by April 28th the latest. Their emails can be found on posters around the school. Good Luck!

Class of 2023 Movie Night

Attention Class of 2023. Save the date for a fun movie night on Thursday May 4th. Please forward any appropriate movie requests to Mrs. Smith. More info to follow shortly.

Graduation Awards

Attention graduating grade 12s. This is a reminder that self nominations for grad awards are due this coming Friday. They must be submitted to the Form before mindnight. for details, see the Student Services D2L site or see Mrs. Smith in room 211.

Trivia Night – Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed for the big Trivia Night this Friday. Get your volunteer hours rolling! We would need your help from 6:30 – 10:00. See Chaplain Wayne to sign up.

Prom Committee Meeting

There will be a meeting on Wednesday at 12:25 in room 104.

Prom Pop-Up Donations Needed!

This is a call out for donations to our Prom Pop-Up! Please consider donating your very gently used Formal dresses, suits, shirts, ties, shoes, purses, jewellery and accessories – to our Prom Pop-up to support our next round of prom-goers! 

Donations can be dropped off to the Main Office Monday to Friday between 8:00 – 4:00. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Scott in the main office. Please be sure that all donations are clean, in nearly new condition and are appropriate for formal wear. 

Student Services

Summer school registration is now open!  Visit “Continuing Education” on your myblueprint account to sign up.

Scholarship applications are due this Friday, April 28th for Easter Seals, John Sawyer, Rotary Club, and both Jim Robinson & George Winnett Bursaries from the Lion’s Club.  Also, self-nominations are due for this year’s Loyola Grad Awards!

Applications for the OMDREB scholarship are due this Sunday April 30th!

Applications for the Meridian Sean Jackson Scholarship are due this Sunday April 30th!

Track and Field Team

The track and field team will be competing at the Ray Lewis Invitational at McMaster University on Thursday April 27th and the Lakeshore Catholic Invitational in Port Colborne on Friday April 28th. Athletes attending either of these meets are to attend a meeting today after school to discuss details for each competition.

Please meet in room 219 at 2:30 today. Training will commence immediately after the meeting.

Student Senate

Hey Hawks! If you’re in grades 9-11 and interested in having a say in your education, being a Student Representative of your school, and being a voice for change, then Student Senate is for you! Build your leadership and interpersonal skills by applying for Student Senate for the 2023-2024 school year. Applications close on May 19th. More information can be found on Instagram @hcdsbsenate.
