Therapy Dog Visits

Hi Hawks, starting this Thursday in the library and every Thursday to follow, Winnie, the therapy dog, will be attending Loyola to socialize and greet you. Therapy dogs help to promote physical and mental health and make you feel happy. This Thursday, Winnie will be available in the library for 10s and 12s on their lunch. And for anyone who wants to know, Winnie is a 7 and half year-old golden-retriever-basset hound and she is ready to meet you. So come down to the library this Thursday 10s and 12s to meet Winnie. Can’t wait to see you there.

The Loyola Track and Field Team was competing again yesterday at the Graham Hood Invitational just down the road at Nelson High School in Burlington with some more strong results. Amy Scott threw a personal best breaking the 9 meter barrier for the first time for a 2nd place finish in the Senior Girls shot put. Another personal best was achieved by Erik Derakhshan as he broke through the 5 minute barrier in the Senior Boys 1500m race running a time of 4 minutes 57 seconds to take 6th place. Jerran Gapasin also hit a personal best jumping exactly 5 meters in the Novice Boys Long Jump to take 3rd place. After a 3rd place finish in the Senior Girls 100m on Friday in Hamilton, Debbie Suleman added to her top results with a 2nd place in the 200m yesterday. Suleman also lead the Senior Girls 4 x100m Relay team along with Natalia Murillo, Favour Odin and Christina Ciofani to take 2nd place. Loyola’s Novice Boys ran up a category and finished 2nd place in the Junior Boys category of the 4 x 100m Relay. The team was comprised of Miguel Da Silva, Augustyn Kurpaska, Kevin Lamptey and David Grant. And finally, Sheyana Hebert showed her endurance to win the Para Girls 800m sprint taking 1st place in her first ever 800m race. The team is back at it Friday in Hamilton where we look to keep the strong results coming.
