Track & Field

After an intensive season of invitational meets as well as our recent qualifying efforts at both GHAC 2 weeks ago and South Regionals this week we have had our top athletes qualify for OFSAA which will be taking place at Western University in London this week from Jun 6 – 8. The following athletes will be attending the Track and Field Provincials: Debbie Suleman will be competing in the Sr. Girls 100m sprint as well as the 4 x 100m relay along with teammates Natalia Murillo, Favour Odin and Alyssa Stephenson. Sheyana Hebert will be representing Loyola in the Para 100m and 800m events. Miguel Da Silva, David Grant, Augustyn Kurpaska and Kevin Lamptey will compete in the Novice Boys 4 x 100m relay Tyler Laretei will also advance as the South Region Champion in the Jr. Boys 100m Hurdles. It’s been a long and tough road for these athletes to reach the Provincial stage of competition in their respective events and congratulations go out to them in anticipation of their competitions this week.

June is National Indigenous History Month

Did you know June is also National Indigenous History Month?! This month, Canada celebrates and honours the history, heritage and diversity of Indigenous peoples in Canada. The history of First Nations, Inuit and Métis is essentially the very history of our country as they are the first peoples of Canada and continue to play important roles in its development and its future. It is also an important opportunity to recognize the strength of present-day Indigenous communities. Every day this month, listen to your morning announcements to learn more about Canada’s Indigenous peoples, brought to you by Loyola’s Indigenous Advocacy Committee. If you’re interested in joining our committee for next year, please see Ms. Scott in the main office.
