Our Grade 9 Pre-IB Programme is a “discernment stage” designed to bridge the gap between elementary school and the rigors of the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Build your foundation while keeping your future options open.
A Foundation for Success
Prepare for the Grade 11 & 12 IB Diploma Programme today. Students complete their OSSD credits while developing the specific academic skills and work ethic needed for international-standard excellence.
A Tailored Experience
St. Kateri is one of the few schools in Ontario to offer a combined environment of Pre-IB, Extended French, and French Immersion. Our faculty helps you reflect on your strengths to customize a high school path that fits you. Students in the IB Programme may also obtain a SHSM along with the IB Diploma Programme.

The formal application window for the 2026/27 school year is currently closed. If you missed the December 12th deadline, please contact Ms. Secondino (secondinon@hcdsb.org) to discuss potential late-entry options.
Note: A non-refundable fee of $300 applies upon acceptance.
Building your IB Foundation
Your Grade 9 year is the first step. As you move into Grade 10, the focus shifts toward deepening your subject knowledge and accelerating your pathway to prepare for the full IB Diploma Programme in Grade 11.
Maintaining Your Status
To remain in the Pre-IB Programme, students must maintain their prerequisites by successfully completing all Grade 9 courses.
- Fees: A payment of $400 is required with your Grade 10 option sheet.
- Payment Window: Open now via School Cash Online.
Sample Grade 10 Schedule
Students are recommended to take Careers and Civics in summer school. French Immersion students will take History and Religion in French. Extended French IB students will take History in French.

Open Doors to New Opportunities
Whether you are currently at St. Kateri or attending school elsewhere, your path to the IB Diploma can start here. We welcome motivated Grade 9 students looking to transition into the Pre-IB stream for their Grade 10 year.
Who Can Apply?
This application process is open to:
- Current St. Kateri Grade 9 students currently enrolled in Core or AP-Prep streams.
- Grade 9 students transferring from other public, private, or Catholic secondary schools.
How to Apply
To join the Pre-IB Programme for Grade 10, please complete the application package and submit it – along with your teacher references – to St. Kateri Student Services.
Note: Physical copies are also available for pickup at our Student Services office.
The Grade 10 Pathway
Students joining in Grade 10 will follow our accelerated Math and Language streams. If you took a Tech credit in Grade 9, you will select an Art/Music/Drama elective this year.

Acceptance & Fees
- Notification: You will be notified of your status by the end of March 2026, provided your application is complete.
- Next Steps: Non-HCDSB students will be asked to complete a full registration package upon acceptance.
- Fees: A fee of $400 applies once you receive your acceptance letter from Mrs. Munro, payable via School Cash Online.

Current Grade 9 Core or AP-Prep Students
Current Grade 9 students may still apply to the Grade 10 Pre-IB Programme until March 6, 2026.

Please note: Completion of the Grade 10 Pre-IB Programme is mandatory for students wishing to enter the IB Diploma Programme in Grades 11 and 12.
For successful applicants, upon receiving their acceptance letter from Mrs. Munro, a fee of $400 will apply and may be paid through School Cash Online.
