Assumption Catholic Secondary School, located at 3230 Woodward Avenue in Burlington, Ontario, holds the distinction of being the first Catholic secondary school in the Halton region. Established in 1977, it was founded by the Halton Roman Catholic Separate School Board, which later became the Halton Catholic District School Board following a 1998 restructuring.
In 1981, the school relocated to its current site, accommodating the growing student population and expanding educational programs. The school serves students from several local Catholic elementary schools, including Ascension, St. Raphael, St. Paul, St. Patrick, St. John, and Holy Rosary.
Assumption offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes Advanced Placement (AP) courses in subjects such as English, French, Geography, History, Mathematics, and Science. Additionally, the school provides Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) programs in areas like Construction Design, Justice and Community Safety, Information and Communications Technology, Fitness and Sports Leadership, and Non-profit sectors.
Beyond academics, Assumption boasts a vibrant extracurricular scene. The school is home to many sports teams competing in the Halton Catholic Athletic Association (HCAA) and the Golden Horseshoe Athletic Conference (GHAC). Assumption also offers a variety of clubs, including a Model United Nations team, a School Reach trivia team, and a band program to name a few.
