National Indigenous Veterans Day

This is an important message from the Indigenous Advocacy Committee. Today is National Indigenous Veterans Day. This day was created to honour First Nations, Metis, and Inuit veterans for their service to Canada. Indigenous veterans have received very little recognition for their important contributions to the Canadian military. Even now, many people do not know of this day’s existence. Throughout this week, please keep an eye out for posters in the atrium and for more information about Indigenous Veterans Day and its significance.

Congratulations to Romain Sordet for running at the Durham OFSAA Cross Country Championship this past weekend. On a day perfect for running, Romain completed his best run of the season on an extremely challenging course that consisted of many steep and rolling hills. He finished this 6km route in 22 min. 26 sec.! An amazing run for this amazing new Hawk Athlete!
