Prom Pop-up

This message is for all graduating students, our Class of 2024! It’s finally here… Loyola‘s prom pop-up grand opening is happening TODAY during your lunch. Come on down to your Learning Commons aka the Library to check out all of the beautiful items we have that are available to you for free! Yes graduates, all of the items have been donated and are FREE for you to have and to keep! Just this weekend we received another very generous donation from the“Candy Prom” dress store in Toronto of 10 brand new dresses which still have the price tags on them! Whether you are just thrifty and want to save some money, you want to be environmentally friendly and recycle, or if you just need a little helping hand, this is the place for you! We have over 35 beautiful full length dresses, we’ve got some heals as well as some stylish Suits, tons of ties and more! We’ve got pop-up change rooms so you can try things on and if you want to book a time outside of your lunch hour, simply “pop” into the main office and see Mrs. Scott to book a time that works for you. Still need some volunteer hours or just want to help out in your final year? We are looking for grade 12 volunteers to help out in the Prom Pop up weekdays during your lunch. If you are available to help please see Mrs. Scott in the Main Office.

Multicultural Club

A new Multicultural Club is starting TODAY after school in Room 195! We will come together to celebrate the diversity of our Loyola school community. All are welcome to join! See Ms. Mascarenhas or Ms. Ventresca if you have any questions.

Firehawks Robotics

Over the March break our Loyola FireHawks Robotics team attended our two District Events. Our first event was in Newmarket and our second event was at Georgian College in Barrie. Our team, and our little robot named MockingJay, once again exceeded our expectations. We started the March break in Newmarket and we had a blast! – We ranked 5th after qualification matches out of 34 teams. – We were alliance #4 Captains – Teaming up with FRC teams 2705 (Merge Robotics) and 4951(CDS Cyclones). – We made it all the way to the semi-finals in playoffs – just one match away from the finals! – Our team was also recognized with the Industrial Design Award. This past weekend our team headed up to Barrie for our second District event and we had another amazing weekend! – We ranked 5th after qualifications – We were asked to join the # 3 alliance – Teaming up with 4917 (Sir Lancerbots) and 5408 (Kennedy Kinetix) – The most amazing part was that we won the Engineering Inspiration Award. While the accolades are great, it is the lessons learned and the challenges that we overcame – that are the most important. Congratulations FireHawks!
