AP Information

Please register to be included on our emailing list.

Please note that Corpus Christi will only be offering grade 9 and 10 AP-Prep courses for the 2024-2025 school year.

Students pursuing the AP Program have the unique opportunity to learn at a university level, while studying topics in greater depth. In some AP courses offered, students will have the opportunity to earn university credits towards their post-secondary degree.

AP provides students with an opportunity for learning that goes beyond facts and figures. The rich course material, classroom discussions and inquiry-based assignments typical of AP courses will help students develop the knowledge, learning and critical thinking skills expected of university bound students.

The AP Program is recognized by post-secondary institutions in more than 30 countries worldwide, including 90% of north American colleges and universities. Learn more about AP

  • Dedicated to school work, and are interested in furthering their knowledge in a specific course or area of study;
  • Passionate about learning and enjoy school;
  • Prepared with the completion of pre-reading and homework, and are ready to engage in the learning of the day with questions and contributions in their class.

Description of an AP Learner

Students who are high achievers (level 4) in the core subject areas can enrol in Advanced Placement Preparation. AP students are responsible, able to multitask, prioritize activities, and meet tight deadlines. They are also prepared in their studies, organized and can successfully work both independently and collaboratively.

AP Assessment & Evaluation

  • AP offers a rich, rigorous, and thoughtful university level curriculum, with accommodations for students if required.
  • Students who successfully complete an AP examination have the opportunity to receive university credit or advanced standing, depending on the policy and requirements of a specific university.
  • Former AP students speak of their transition into post-secondary education with greater ease and success, based on their academic experience, as well as the skills and confidence gained through participation in the AP program.
  • Students are not required to write the AP examination; it is optional. The primary objective of taking AP courses is to provide students with an excellent preparation for post-secondary education and beyond.
