OSSLT Dates – Spring Session 2023

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test measures whether students are meeting the minimum standard for literacy across all subjects up to the end of Grade 9. This year, the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO) has been offering the computer-based OSSLT to students in Grades 10, to students who did not write, and to those who are retaking the test. Successful completion of the literacy test is one of the requirements to earn an Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD).

The OSSLT will be administered to Grade 10 students who are currently taking English this semester on April 19and 20, 2023Students who did not complete or were not successful in the fall session will have an opportunity to rewrite the test.  Individual student results will be reported by mid-June 2023.

Students will be writing the assessment in their English classes.  The assessment will be completed in two sessions (Session A and Session B). Each session is designed to be completed in 60 minutes, and students will complete each session in one sitting.

OSSLT Spring Session Schedule will run as follows:

Additional time may be provided for any students who require it. Additional accommodations will be made for English Language Learners and for students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP).

Corpus Christi CSS, in conjunction with our Literacy Team, are committed to helping our students prepare for the OSSLT.  Over the course of the school year, all teachers have been incorporating literacy skills into their regular class program. In addition, a D2L course shell with OSSLT preparation material has been prepared for students. Students will be given access to the self-directed learning modules and are encouraged to move through each module by watching prepared videos, working through informational material, and completing the minds on, action, and consolidation activities. Students will have the opportunity to become familiar with the online test and its platform through EQAO’s online practice test.

English Language Learners and Students with Special Education needs will receive more information from their teachers regarding accommodations and extra supports.
