Name the Podcast Booth Contest
As part of Black History Month and the debut of Loyola’s podcast booth, your Learning Commons is holding a contest to name the podcast booth after a Black Canadian who has connections with radio and/or podcasting. The naming contest is for students and staff. Please email Mr. Hodges the name of the person and your reasons for choosing this person.
Go Girl Hackathon
Attention all grade 9 and grade 10 girls! Sign up for our Go Girl Hackathon happening on Wednesday March 6th! Learn how to code like a pro in one day! Create an app to share with your friends! We are looking for girls who have never coded before and want to give it a try. There will be prizes awarded. Look for the green posters around the school and sign up using the QR code or email Mrs. Alfano at alfanoa@hcdsb.org. Don’t miss it!
Steam Society
Attention grade nines and tens! If you are interested in science, technology, engineering, art, or math, come explore these different aspects of STEAM through hands on activities and experiments! Join the STEAM Society on Tuesday, February 27 in room 163 after school. For more information, scan the QR codes posted around the school. Again, join us TUESDAY after school in room 163.
Nest Meetings
Attention grade 9s this is a reminder that nest 3 will meeting the library period 1 and 2 with Mr. Rachner and nest 6 will meet during period 3b and 4 with Mr. McCarthy for our fun mentor activity.
Pink Shirt Day for Anti-Bullying
Wednesday is Pink Shirt Day! This is a paid non-uniform day and we are encouraging all students to wear pink! The mission of Pink Shirt Day is to raise awareness for anti-bullying initiatives. This year’s slogan “All Kinds of Kindness” aims to spotlight that all forms of kindness contribute to building an inclusive and connected community.
Girls Softball and Slowpitch
There will be a brief but mandatory meeting for any girls interested in playing softball or fastpitch this year in the gym immediately after school today. This meeting will determine if we have enough players to field a team so please make sure you show up!
