Go Girl Hackathon

Attention all grade 9 and grade 10 girls! Sign up for our Go Girl Hackathon happening on Wednesday March 6th! Learn how to code like a pro in one day! Create an app to share with your friends! We are looking for girls who have never coded before and want to give it a try. There will be prizes awarded. Look for the green posters around the school and sign up using the QR code or email Mrs. Alfano at alfanoa@hcdsb.org. Don’t miss it!

STEAM Society

Attention grade nines and tens! If you are interested in science, technology, engineering, art, or math, come explore these different aspects of STEAM through hands on activities and experiments! Pink Shirt Day

Wednesday is Pink Shirt Day! This is a paid non-uniform day and we are encouraging all students to wear pink! The mission of Pink Shirt Day is to raise awareness for anti-bullying initiatives. This year’s slogan “All Kinds of Kindness” aims to spotlight that all forms of kindness contribute to building an inclusive and connected community.

University of Waterloo Math Contest

For those students who signed up for the University of Waterloo Math contest, please come to the library tomorrow (Wed.) during period 1.

Just a reminder that submissions for The Optimist Oratorical Contest are due tomorrow! Grade 12s hoping to graduate this June – Community Service Hours are due to your Guidance Counsellor this Friday March 1st!

Also, course selection for the 2024-25 school year are due this Sunday March 3rd by midnight!

Dungeons & Dragons Club

Calling all adventurers! For any students interested in joining the Dungeons & Dragons Club, there will be a meeting on Monday (March 4th) after school in room 139 with Mr. Hassan. No experience is required, and we welcome players with any/all levels of experience. Spread the word, and please see Mr. Hassan if you have any questions or concerns.

Model UN

On Saturday Loyola went to their first Model UN tournament of the year. Our delegates sat on committees representing countries and communities from across the world. We are very proud of the teams’ accomplishments and are looking forward to our next tournament at St. FX. Shout to Malena Gallo who won the Viola Desmond Visionary Award. Congratulations everyone! Our next meeting will be held tomorrow after school in room 139.
