Prayers for the Week

Our thought for today, Monday February 22, 2021 is by singer and actress Janelle Monáe

“Even if it makes others uncomfortable, I will love who I am.”

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Good Monday morning God!

You created each of us as an amazing individual, called to bring people together!  Our personalities are our own.  Our words are our words.  Our dreams are our own dreams. What makes us laugh and cry will never create identical laughter or tears by anyone.  What music makes us dance might sound like noise to someone else. What we define as art might make someone else think a paint can fell over on a canvas.

The real point is, we are called to be who we are and no one else.  You God created me to be only me!  We all have a purpose.  We all have a calling!

Help us God to learn who we are and live a life that is proudly happy and unique!

We ask for this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Our Lady – Pray for us!

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our thought for today Tuesday February 23, 2021 is by Serena Williams

“I am lucky that whatever fear I have inside me, my desire to win is always stronger.”

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Fearless God,

Help us not to be afraid of the truth…let us not be afraid of trying…or afraid of reaching out…or afraid of saying I love you or I forgive you or I’m sorry…

If we listen, goodness is always the stronger voice inside of us!

If we listen to You God, You will never lead us astray!

If we live life less fearful, we will be stronger in our convictions and stronger in our actions.

Help us God to listen to Your Voice more than the voices of doubt and fear!

We ask for this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Our Lady – Pray for us!

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our thought for today, Wednesday February 24, 2021 is by Muhammad Ali

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Good morning God!

Boxer Muhammad Ali was right!  Nothing is impossible!

For us as Catholic Christians, we believe one step further than that!

We believe that with You God, nothing is impossible!

When we can’t see the light or the way out – let us know that nothing is impossible.

When we feel like we cannot get up, help us know that we can get up.

When we feel great pain or sadness, help us to embrace the feeling and get through the day!

When we feel like we can’t succeed, let us know we certainly can!

Nothing is impossible!

I ask for this through Your Son, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit. One God, forever and ever…

Amen

Our Lady – Pray for us!

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Our thought for Today is Thursday February 25, 2021 is by

“He who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.”

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

A beautiful prayer written by Tamara Lebak

Dear God,

Holy One who has given us the breath of life,
Today we remember
To breathe deeply
To rest
To take in
To pause before we act…
And then to take in another deep breath poised on the edge
And risk jumping in
Risk taking action
Risk speaking up
Risk using the gifts we have been given
So that at the end of our life we can say with absolute clarity
That no part of our existence was wasted in fear of failure or fear of success.
Hold us;
Prepare us to begin to offer the gift of our awakened presence, that is full of love and light today.

Amen.

Our Lady – Pray for us!

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

As we close out our morning prayers focusing on BLACK HISTORY MONTH we hear our thought for today, Friday 26, 2021.

Laundry is the only thing that should be separated by color.”

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Good morning God!

Humankind has a horrible track record of separating everything. There has always been a class system…there has always been the rich and the poor, the smart and the dumb, the strong and the weak, those who made the rules and those who were made to follow those rules. As time went on, more separation happened.  Family names and power and money became the norm. And at some point, the worst of all separations began…the separation of people because of the colour of their skin.  Countries that were living in peace, were ravaged by slavery.  Men and women and children were sold like a household items.  Repeatedly, separation began to get worse…

Today we pray God for the end of all separation, but especially those in the black community.  Help us to know it isn’t enough to say, “I’m not racist!” We need to be anti-racist!

Racism is not a feeling or emotion. It is a way of thinking, creating, and implementing policies and laws that provide privileges to whites that are nonexistent to minorities. Racism exists on an individual level but more importantly, racism exists in the institutions and structures of our society. This paradigm, that white skin is superior to black and brown skin is at the foundation of our country. For that to change we must address our foundation and the collective trauma and pain of racism, while developing anti-racist laws, policies and regulations that uplift all Canadians and people around the world!

Help us God to be better people, who are anti-racist.

Help us God to start a new.

Help us to try to write the wrongs that have been done.

We ask for this through the strength of truth and love that Your only Son brought to us!

Amen.

Our Lady – Pray for us!

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
