Tiny Home Project Underway!

The Tiny Home Project for the 2022-2023 school year is well underway at Notre Dame!

This September, students enrolled in Mr. Nason’s construction class, as well as student volunteers began a construction project of building a Tiny Home to gain valuable hands-on experience and to offer affordable housing for communities in need.

This project has been made possible with the support and continued partnership of Habitat for Humanity.

On December 10, Mr. Nason’s construction class were given the opportunity to unveil their progress of the Tiny Home and offer an in-person tour to Ontario’s Associate Minister of Housing, Michael Parsa; and Parliamentary Assistant to Ontario’s Minister of Colleges and Universities, and Burlington MPP, Natalie Pierre!

This initiative was recently featured on CBC News Toronto for the outstanding work taking place at here Notre Dame!

“I’ve always wanted to help the community, and this is a really eye-opening experience. I’ve gotten my friends involved in the after-school club,” said construction student, Ava Sunderland.

The framing and roof of the 250 square-foot Tiny Home was just completed, which will allow students and volunteers to begin working on the interior of the home this upcoming winter.

By the end of the school year, the completed home will be transported to an Indigenous community in need and will be used for housing.
