HSTS will complete the courtesy seat application review and allocation process over the summer in order to allow courtesy riders to begin riding the bus on the first day of school in September 2025. All applicants will be advised of the status of their application by the third week of August via email to the primary contact as provided to the school.

Approved applicants can access their transportation schedule via the HSTS parent portal (Parent Portal Instructions) during the third week of August 2025. Visit the HSTS website for more information: www.haltonbus.ca

Parent Portal Update – May 1, 2025
To improve security and make accessing student transportation info easier, changes are coming to the HSTS parent portal.

For Existing Parent Portal Users:

  • Starting May 1, 2025, in order for families to continue to access busing information through the HSTS parent portal, their HSTS parent portal account email address must match the email their child’s school has on file as a parent/guardian (with access to records) in the Student Information System (SIS).
  • If the email addresses already match, no action is needed. The only change you will notice is the inability to manually add students using their OEN and date of birth.
  • If the email addresses do not match, you will need to either update your email in the HSTS parent portal to match your child’s school’s records, or contact your child’s school to update their records to match your HSTS parent portal email address.
  • Important: If your email isn’t updated by May 1, you will continue to receive school bus delay/cancellation notification emails for routes/runs that your child(ren) are currently assigned to for the remainder of the school year, however you will lose access to view your child(ren)’s busing information until the email addresses match in both systems. Please ensure updates are made before the end of June to ensure you have access to student transportation information for the 2025-2026 school year.

For New Parent Portal Account Users:

  • Starting May 1, 2025, parents/guardians can set up a new HSTS parent portal account in three easy steps:

1.    Sign up using an email address on file with your child’s school (as a parent/guardian with access to records).

2.    Click the validation link sent by BusPlanner Web to your email to activate your account.

3.    Log in to the HSTS parent portal to view your child’s transportation information including eligibility, assigned bus route(s) and run(s), bus stop location(s) and time(s) and provide the name and contact number for the Bus Company servicing each route.

For Additional Family Members or Caregivers:

  • We understand that there may be instances where additional family members or caregivers would also like to receive automatic delay/cancellation email notifications for a student’s bus through our Parent Portal. Any individual can sign up for the HSTS parent portal to receive delay/cancellation emails for specific routes, but won’t see student info.
  • Family members can also use the free BusPlanner Delays app to get push notifications for specific bus routes.

For additional information, including how to create or update a parent portal account, visit the HSTS Parent Portal Frequently Asked Questions on the HSTS website.

Please email questions to: transportation@haltonbus.ca

If you are applying after the after July 1, 2025. Please complete the School Courtesy Seat Application available for consideration October 1st. Applications can be sent to Mrs. Fiorillo at fiorilloe2@hcdsb.org. All applicants will be advised of the status of their application after that time.
