School Communication #49

Good morning Assumption families – please see below for some items of interest for our community:

Relay for Life – Thursday, May 23, 2024

What is Relay for Life?   Since 1999 Relay For Life has united a collective of Canadians, who are a force-for-life in the face of cancer. At Relay For Life events, participants of all ages gather at a community space and take turns walking around a track or path to symbolize the perseverance and action needed to improve lives and change the future of cancer forever.  We are raising money for the cancer research and the Canadian Cancer Society.

During Relay, we honour Participants of Hope during our first lap the Lap of Hope. We light luminaries to light the track in memory of those we have lost.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Silent Auction!

Great Prizes! – all proceeds go to the Canadian Cancer Society – you need to complete the google form to place a bid, but you can see the last bid by clicking on the google sheet.  Deadline May 22. Here is the link:

Note: A majority of our students will be participating in the Relay for Life.  On May 23rd, Period 1 will run as normal.  Students will start to get called out of period 1 to begin the Relay for Life.  The schedule for the remaining school day will be various department-led study halls for students not participating in the Relay for Life.  This will be the opportunity for students to work on upcoming assessment tasks and prepare for culminating activities and final exams with teacher supervision.

Paying the 2024/2025 Student Activity Fees

If you have not paid the Student Activity Fee, please click: SchoolCashOnline.com: Welcome

The Student Activity Fee is an annual fee that is used to offset costs for school initiatives, materials and activities.  We can’t run the clubs and activities we do without this fee.  Your cooperation with this is appreciated – Thank you!

Student Uniform

With the warmer weather, we have noticed a few issues regarding the school uniform  A reminder that students are to be in full school uniform whenever in the building.  For our uniform, please note:

•No hats in the building upon entry.

•No slides, Crocs, or flip flops – Safety concerns. Shoes must be closed toe and closed heel.

•No studded jewelry.

•No non-school sweaters or hoodies. Only the Assumption hoodie is permitted.

Thank you.

Volunteer Opportunity – A Great Way to Help with Your Community Service Hours!

VR Pro Inc. is in need of event volunteers for our Bronte Creek 5K/10K and Mission Pawsible 2K taking place in Bronte Creek Provincial Park on Sunday, May 26th. I’ve attached a handout with more information on volunteering that can be distributed to students.  Please see Volunteers Needed – 2024 Bronte Creek Race.pdf

Thanks everyone, have a great day,
