Grade 12 student Alex Baier has been awarded the National President’s Entrance Scholarship from Western University!
The National President’s Entrance Scholarship recognizes all-round excellence, and is awarded on the basis of outstanding academic performance to candidates who demonstrate ability for creative and innovative thought and a passion for the pursuit of learning. The award honours students with exceptional achievement in extracurricular activities such as arts and athletics, with a special emphasis on commitment to community service through ongoing contributions to school and community life.
Alex has given back to his school community by serving as a School Ambassador, as well as helping organize food drives and charity events. He co-founded a new organization, the Merchandising Club, to raise funds for Crusader Cares, a charity that supports students in the Assumption community. He is Vice-President of Leadership for DECA and part of his school’s Mock Trial team.
Alex is a part of many school sports teams including cross country, golf, swim and lacrosse. He is also involved in many initiatives outside of school, with a special interest in those that empower youth in his community. Alex also plays representative hockey outside of school, and is certified as a lifeguard and a referee.
In the Fall, Alex will be starting his double degree program in both Business and Statistical & Actuarial Sciences at Western University.
Congratulations on this fantastic accomplishment, Alex! The Assumption and HCDSB community is so proud of you!
