Welcome back for the 2023/2024 school year! Hopefully everyone enjoyed a fun-filled, relaxing summer with family and friends and are readying themselves for the new opportunities that lie ahead. This year will be packed with events for both students and community members alike and we look forward to hosting all associated with our Assumption family.
Below are some important pieces of information that you need to know to kick off our school year:
- Used Uniform Sale – Wednesday, August 30th: 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Our Catholic School Council is hosting our Used Uniform Sale (Small Cafeteria)
- Great opportunity to pick up needed items at a great price!

- Gr. 9 Orientation Day – Wednesday, August 30th: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

- First day of school is WEDNESDAY SEPT. 6th.
- Warning bell is 8:10am. School starts everyday @ 8:15 a.m.
- Attendance & Punctuality is crucial to your (child’s) success on every level. Students are considered late if after 8:15 a.m.
- Please note: The drop off area at the front of the school gets extremely busy – plan to have students arrive by 8:00 a.m.
- Be in full uniform and be sure to bring binders, papers, pens/pencils, etc.!
- School Activity Fee:
- To date only 31% of the student population have paid the activity fee ($65). This will result in a reduction of what can be offered to students outside of the classroom. For example, we can only provide yearbooks for those students who have shown as ‘paid’ the activity fee.

- School Council:
- At the beginning of the school year, you will receive an email about signing up for Assumption’s Catholic School Council. If you can spare some time, I encourage you to join so that we can work together to build a stronger community for the benefit of your children.
- Lockers:
- Gr. 9 students will be allocated a locker during their Orientation Day
- Everyone will receive their lockers on the timetable through PowerSchool
- Medical Peril Information:
- The HCDSB implemented a new electronic medical condition verification link in August 2023. An email has been sent that will allow you to review and update your child’s Student Plan of Care for the 2023-2024 school year. Having up-to-date medical information is an important tool for ensuring the health and safety of your child. We appreciate your cooperation, in advance, in using the medical verification link to update and verify your child’s health profile. Details have been provided in the email for additional support with the new process, if needed.
