Parking Safety

Dropping off and picking up students in school areas can cause a lot of extra traffic congestion. Illegally stopped or parked cars are a safety risk as they make it hard for other drivers to see pedestrians, particularly children, crossing the street.

We need your help to ensure the children of our community can get to and from school safely. The Town of Oakville has partnered with Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) to help educate drivers about school zone safety and parking. Your child’s school has been identified as an area of concern. This month, officers will be visiting the school to remind drivers:

  • Not to stop in No Stopping areas
  • Not to park in No Parking area
  • Not to obstruct sidewalks, crosswalks, driveways or fire routes

Following the awareness campaign, officers who patrol school areas will enforce parking regulations, ticketing illegally stopped or parked vehicles. Parking tickets may be issued at the time of the violation or may be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle.
