Uniform Policy

The school uniform is intended to develop a sense of pride, modesty and self-discipline.  By choosing to attend Christ the King Catholic Secondary School, students and parents make a commitment to comply with and support the school uniform policy. Students must remain in full uniform throughout the school day while in the building.  This includes the hallways, cafeteria and atrium.

All uniform clothing items (as listed below) are available for purchase from our supplier McCarthy. Purchases can be made:

CtK Uniform Item Details:

TOPS:

  • Golf Shirt with CtK logo (white or green; short or long sleeve)  
  • Rugby Shirts – striped with CtK Logo
  • Christ the King Grey Hoodie

BOTTOMS:

  • Dress Pants – Navy with CtK logo
  • Walking Shorts  – Navy with CtK Logo

Shoes must be predominantly black in colour. No slippers, slides or flip-flops are permitted.

If your family is in financial need and requires support with your uniform, please contact your child’s Vice Principal.

Guidelines for Wearing the Uniform:

  • Students must be in complete CtK uniform. Items are to be worn properly and modestly while in the school during the school day.
  • Ripped, torn or unhemmed items are not permitted.
  • Shorts cannot be rolled up and must be at least mid-thigh in length (so that the CtK logo is visible).
  • Pants should not be tucked into socks.
  • Non-uniform sweaters, sweatshirts, hoodies, or shirts with ripped out sleeves on sweaters are not permitted in the school at any time.
  • A plain white short-sleeved t-shirt may be worn under school golf shirt and must not exceed the length of the shirt.
  • Jackets/coats and other non-uniform items should be removed when students arrive to the school and stored in their locker during the school day.
  • Hats are not to be worn in the school, including on civvies days and exam days. Hats may be confiscated if worn in the building.
  • Accessories (scarves, studded jewelry, heavy chains, etc.) are not to be worn in the school at any time. Inappropriate logos or symbols that are not in keeping with our Catholic values are not permitted. The school Administration reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of any accessory.

Dress Code Guidelines for Non-Uniform Days and Events

  • Clothing with inappropriate logos, sayings or pictures is not acceptable at school.
  • Crop/midriff tops, tank tops, halter tops, tops with spaghetti straps are not to be worn at school.
  • Cut-off shorts and excessively torn or ripped jeans are not to be worn at school.
  • No bare midriffs.
  • Physical Education clothing should provide for comfortable, modest and safe movement during activities.
  • Shorts should cover to mid-thigh when seated. Shorts worn at a length that is above the mid-thigh will not be permitted.

The Administration reserves the right to decide on appropriate and acceptable attire.
