Class of 2021 – Graduation Update
Please see below the most recent update regarding Graduation Events for the Class of 2021 at Christ the King which was sent to all graduating students and their parents/guardians on Friday May 14, 2021.
Dear Parents and Guardians and Graduating Students,
As a follow-up to our previous Graduation message, please find below an update of our Graduation plans for the Class of 2021:
Grad Gift Boxes
Thank you to our graduating students for completing our Grad Gift Box survey! Our student and staff Graduation committee met this week to finalize plans and orders for the contents of the Class of 2021 Gift Box. We are pleased to share that each grad will receive a personalized gift box containing a drink cup with straw, smartphone holder, notebook, lanyard, keychain, complete with CtK Class of 2021 branding, as well as the traditional CtK Grad cross necklace, and, a variety of snacks for your home viewing celebrations of the Commencement Ceremony! We are planning to host a one day Grad drive-by pick up of the Grad Gift Boxes on Thursday June 24th, 2021. More details will be provided closer to the date.
We would like to thank all students who submitted applications to become this year’s class Valedictorian! Valedictorian Elections will take place on Thursday May 20, 2021. Candidate profiles can be viewed by accessing the Commencement Corner on the CtK D2L page. Details will announced and posted shortly on D2L regarding the time of the elections on Thursday. Best of luck to all our candidates!
Graduation Regalia Packages
Our initial plan was to distribute the Graduation Regalia packages that students purchased either when students had their photo sitting at the school with Edge Imaging, or when students picked up their Grad Gift box. However, we recognize that this is an uncertain time and all of our planning is contingent on provincial and regional public health orders. We understand that some families would like to the opportunity to arrange for family photos on their own ahead of time. We are therefore providing an opportunity for students and families to pick up their Graduation Regalia package in a safe drive-by format between May 26 and June 2, 2021. Students are asked to register their preferred date and time through the following link: Graduation Regalia Pick-Up Registration When arriving to the CtK parking lot, we ask that cars proceed to the back of the school doors (closest to the portables and cafeteria) and pull up to the sidewalk area. Please remain in your car and a staff member will deliver your child’s package to you. A reminder email with details will be sent ahead of the pick-up dates.
As communicated in our previous update a couple of weeks ago, unfortunately no in-person graduation photos can be taken during the current provincial shutdown.
Our school photographer, Edge Imaging, will be rescheduling any current CtK bookings once the shutdown has been lifted and they are once again permitted to offer in-person photography. We are hopeful that all students who booked with Edge Imaging will be able to have their sittings. While it remains unclear at this time when the current shutdown order will be lifted, the CtK Staff Graduation Committee are also committed to ensuring that students will have an opportunity to have a photo taken in their full Graduation regalia at the school (after the lockdown) provided that it is safe to do so. We are currently planning for these informal grad photos to be taken outdoors by school staff over a period of two days in June (dates to be determined once the provincial restrictions are lifted). These photos will be used for our 2021 Yearbook as well as for the Virtual Commencement Ceremony taking place on Monday June 28, 2021. Students will need to wear their Graduation Regalia for the photos (these items will be available be available for students who have not picked them up previously at that time; those who have picked up these items already should bring the cap and gown with them). Please stay tuned for more information.
We thank you for your continued patience and support during this time, and we will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
