Truth & Reconciliation Week

September 30th is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Since this day falls on a Saturday, our STA school community will recognize this day on Friday, September 29th instead with a 15-minute virtual prayer service followed by a live-streamed Survivors’ Flag-raising ceremony via the morning show channel. This will take place at the start of the Morning Show. The announcements will commence after the flag is raised.  We will be promoting Orange Shirt Day as well.  Indigenous educational awareness activities will be run by the Development and Peace Club during both lunches in the atrium to raise awareness of the individual, family, and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of ‘Every Child Matters’.  Students are encouraged to wear an orange shirt with their uniform bottoms as a symbol of hope, reconciliation, and a commitment to a better future.
